The retail pharmacy giant said on February 24 that a household saliva-based PCR COVID-19 test conducted by a clinical reference laboratory will now be available through Walgreens.

The test has received emergency use authorization from the FDA and will be provided through Walgreens Find Care, a digital health platform on the Walgreens mobile app. Walgreens said in a press release that the test reported 100% sensitivity and specificity in its emergency use authorization document.

Consumers can order the test online if they meet the clinical guidelines for one or more COVID-19 tests after filling out the questionnaire. After completing the test, the consumer registers online, puts the saliva sample into the collection bottle, and then sends the sample to the local FedEx site. Walgreens said that results usually take 24 to 48 hours.

The cost of each test is $119.
